Pregnancy & Postpartum

There are lots of emotions when a baby is on the way, but each person’s experience is unique. Many of those emotions are wonderful, some less so.

Some are downright terrifying.

The worst thing about pregnancy- and childbirth-related mental health issues is how often parents feel both alone and like failures. Nothing could be farther from the truth, and we’re here to help you see that.

We provide therapy for the whole childbirth experience. During your pregnancy, you may find yourself feeling anxious about your baby’s health, about how your life will change, about how your relationships will change, or about postpartum depression. Establishing a therapeutic relationship early can help you navigate the experience.

Perinatal mental health refers to the care of any parent before, during, and after the arrival of a child. Perinatal mood disorders include depression, of course, but also things like anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Adoptive parents and non-gestational parents are also impacted by having a baby, with hormonal changes and similar mental health concerns to the gestational parent.

If you’re not feeling like yourself in the weeks before or after your child arrives, even if you don’t think it’s full-on depression, therapy can help you re-establish a sense of yourself again.

Lamppost Wellness is here to light the path to healing for families who are welcoming children into their lives.
